About Us

Over the last 20+ years, SWLH have introduced and inspired many people to take up 'Savoy Style' Lindy Hop, whether it's been teaching or to grow as a dancer. We have also inspired those in the film and entertainment industry to put on events and produce short films for film festivals that we have been involved with. In our classes we aim for you to flourish and to realise your potential and have a positive impact on others.

In our classes and on travels abroad, we have met people from New Zealand, China, India and even America wanting to know more about Lindy Hop and where they can find Lindy Hop classes when they return home.

Right from the beginning, we were inspired by Lindy Hop champions, Graeme and Ann (Hoppin' Mad) from Bristol ('Savoy Style') and later on by professional UK teachers. We have been privileged to have been taught by the Ryan Francois, the World's top Lindy Hop dancer. We acknowledge and thank them for their skill and enthusiasm that has resulted in inspiring us to inspire others to be part of the Worldwide Lindy Hop community and do the best we can to keep the history and dance alive for future Lindy Hop dancers.

To inspire us even more, we have been to international events in Harlem a number of times to celebrate Frankie Manning and all the other great Lindy Hoppers. Dancing the Shim Sham with 2,000 Lindy Hoppers in Central Park in a record breaking world record, verified by the Guinness Book of World Records and dancing to the George Gee Swing Orchestra (click), was a once in a life-time experience.

When dancing in community events we have brought back many precious memories for people who have also said that we had really made the night for them. Why not join our performance group, 'The Unflappables' and make people smile.

Live swinging bands each month from four piece Jump, Jive to full 15+ piece Big Bands.

Join our mailing list and stay up-to-date about classes, socials and events throughout the year.

A quote from the heart by one of our dancers: 'Thank you for teaching this very special dance'.
